Marcus Amaya: 1995 Nissan 240SX

It was summer of 2014 when Marcus Amaya, at 18 years old, got into the car scene. He would always see people with nice-looking cars driving around his area on the weekends. "On average, there were about 150-200 cars overflowing the parking lots of a local Sonic," mentioned Amaya, "and people drove 45-minutes to 1-hour away. That's how hype it was!" It was a must-thing to do on the weekends after work, and Amaya got to know new people and their builds.

Amaya

traded his way up to a 1995 Nissan 240SX. "I started off with a base model RSX, then traded that for a JDM Integra with a GSR Motor," remembers Amaya, "I kept that one for a while but then the motor started giving me headaches with maintenance, and with little knowledge at the time I decided to put it up for trade." From there, he then picked-up a 2004 Nissan 350Z, and around the time of owning the 350Z he was peeping around for 240SXs.

"I then stumbled upon this 240SX that was super clean and rust-free, which is rare here in the midwest, out in Chicago," mentions Amaya. He messaged the owner and offered up his 350Z as a trade. Initially, he wasn't very optimistic about the offer, and thought the owner was going to respond with a 'LOL' or something of that nature, but to his surprise he received a text message a couple hours later asking for information about the 350Z. "We negotiated and came to a good dollar figure to add on top with the 350Z." Amaya met the owner of the 240SX, and after all the talking, they handed each other the titles and keys, and went their separate ways.

Amaya decided to modify the 240SX because he had seen there was a big market of parts for it. He looked at other builds on Google and as a result, gained a lot of inspiration. After owning it for about a year, Amaya decided to give it his full and undivided attention. So he bought 3-piece wheels and other goodies for the 240SX, then lead to paint and some cool little pieces from Japan.

There were many forms of inspiration when It came to his build. "First and foremost, Google images. As crazy as it sounds seeing other cars with crazy paint, fitment, and interiors really sparked interest with doing more with the car," mentions Amaya. He also got much inspiration through Instagram builds. "85% of my follows are of other S-chassis builds. It's so crazy to actually meet the people of those builds you've been following and is such a blessing." Overall, Amaya gets inspiration through his own creative thoughts.
